Learning Apps for students: Digital learning during studies

Let's TEFL

learning-apps

Keeping on top of your studies as a student can be hard work. Not only is the work itself challenging, but students also need to be organized with their time to meet deadlines as efficiently as possible. Scheduling apps like Asana are ideal for such situations.

There’s also the need to plan in social activities and breaks for some downtime to recharge your brain and energy, which is where fun apps like the PartyCasino mobile app can be of use.

In addition to these two helpful apps, there are many more out there for students to use to make their lives easier and improve their grades.

Here’s a list of the different kinds of apps students should look into if they want to make their school time as straightforward as possible and improve their grades while also enjoying life outside of their studies.

Note-Taking Apps

Lectures are only as good as the notes you take from them. No matter how good your memory is, there is no way you can get the very most out of a lecture if you aren’t making notes to refer to at a later date.

There are a huge number of note-taking apps available that make it simple to keep your notes neat and organized. Gone are the days of having to hunt through piles of paper scraps or flipping back and forth through notepads to find a specific lecture’s notes.

The most well-known app for this is Evernote, which allows you to take notes easily and sync them across all your devices so you can access them almost anywhere. For those who prefer to write some or all of their lecture notes by hand, Evernote is still useful since it allows you to photograph and upload them to the app to keep them safely stored.

As long as your handwriting is neat enough, you can even use the app’s search function to find words in your written notes just like you would with typed pages.

Finally, the notebook sharing feature makes it simple to share your notes with your fellow Evernote users, which means you and your friends can help each other catch up on any missed lectures.

Another note-taking app worth mentioning is Soundnote, which lets you take lecture notes in the traditional fashion but also records the lecture while it syncs them at the same time. Afterwards, you can tap a word in your typed notes and the app will take you to that point of the recording.

Soundnote is an awesome app for those lectures where you fall behind the lecturer or where there is a huge amount of jargon-heavy information and detail to get down. The ability to replay the lecture means you can add to your notes anytime or go back and pick up from any point where you got lost.

Scheduling and List Making Apps

A huge part of going to school is learning how to be more productive and prioritize your time to meet the various deadlines you’ll be faced with.

Having apps on your devices that allow you to quickly organize tasks and view them anywhere is a gamechanger for keeping on top of your work. There are numerous apps of this kind available and they range from very simple list-making apps such as the Reminders app on iPhone to more in-depth project management apps like Asana and Trello.

For making simple lists, Any.do is an excellent option. The Any.do app lets you break down big tasks into smaller chunks and displays them in a simple, intuitive design. To ensure you never forget what needs to be done, there is a reminder feature and you can also sync tasks across multiple devices.

Finally, Any.do comes with a sharing function that is perfect for assigning tasks during group projects and sharing lists with classmates.

A step beyond simple list apps is project management apps like the aforementioned Asana. These kinds of apps let you take control of an entire project from a single dashboard.

Project management apps have a host of features such as the ability to add team members to projects, assign roles and tasks, tagging, messaging, and much more.

These apps allow you to be as organized as you can be by letting you decide just how detailed you want your project boards to be. You really can organize tasks on a granular level so apps like Asana are perfect if you have a huge amount of work, big projects, or simply like to be organized down to the last detail.

Fitness and Fun Apps

Being a student isn’t all about lectures, revisions and writing essays. You should make an effort to ensure it never becomes only about those things. You need to spend time focusing on your physical and mental health, you’ll be more productive and alert as a result.

To keep yourself in good physical and mental health, a good run is hard to beat. To get the most out of your runs, tracking your progress with the Strava app can be key. The app lets you plan and track routes as well as letting you share your runs with your friends.

Strava is a social media platform for runners and can make running much more fun by providing challenges and tracking the progress of yourself as well as your friends.

In addition to staying fit and healthy, students can benefit from taking breaks to have a bit of fun. Fortunately, there are thousands of apps to help with this.

Of course, the mobile gaming sector is the obvious place to start. With so many games available, you’re almost guaranteed to find something you’ll enjoy playing.

Many students also love to play on mobile casino apps since it offers a different kind of enjoyment from traditional mobile games. When done responsibly, learning traditional casino games and playing for money can be an excellent way of taking a break from the rigours of school-life.
